Sandpiper Bedroom
Designer: Stephanie Houghton
Dwelling: Split-Level, Single Family Home
Location: Don Mills, Toronto
Scope: Decoration
This project was a dreamy one – decorating a Mid-Century split-level home in the heart of Don Mills and just around the corner from the Donalda Club. We designed a serene principal bedroom that includes a sitting area where our clients can relax and catch up at the end of the day, away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the house. The original architecture of the room set the tone for the space and our design choices. We opted for custom valances that we painted the colour of the walls to blend in so that we could focus on the beautiful, vaulted ceilings and wood beams without any visual distraction of drapery rods. As always, we wanted the room to feel warm and cozy with lots of layers and textures. Custom hand-blocked John Robshaw drapes directed the palette of creams, caramels, sunny yellow, gold, soft grays and taupes.
