Sometimes recreational properties like cottages can feel just a little too ‘city’. This was one of those lakefront properties that felt that way, so we took it from feeling ‘city builder basic’ to ‘charming country casual’. The kitchen and principal bathroom were totally gutted and redesigned, and every bit of drywall in the two buildings on the property were clad with either bead board, shiplap, knotty pine or wallpaper to create a backdrop that gave this cottage the character it desperately needed.  After the renovations were complete, we added all the country fixings to the decor, like vintage lighting, slipcovered sofas and chairs, lake-side inspired fabrics, an apron sink, reclaimed wood shelves from the original cottage, natural sisal, wood, baskets, and lots of local treasures to create an idyllic weekend retreat for our clients.
