As the appointed designers of The Toronto Hunt, our first project was to transform The Annex Dining Room. It was a dark, uninspiring and noisy space - a particular concern for the members.  Taking our cue from its idyllic surroundings and British history, we decided to transform it into a colourful and inviting space inspired by an English Garden Room.  To manage the noise, we created a ‘sea of lights’ in a cavernous space above the main part of the dining room that was causing the most noise. The light shades were padded to absorb sound and covered in beautiful fabrics. Walls were upholstered to help absorb the sound in a durable linen looking material, and the tables were given hidden padding underneath the linens and dressed with lots of pretty layers. Finally, wood dining chairs were swapped out for upholstered ones that not only helped absorb the sound, but added comfort and interest to the room. With lots more to do at The Toronto Hunt, we are excited about being a part of breathing new life into this beautiful, historic club.
