Yonge Blvd Principal Ensuite
Designer: Candace Thompson & Stephanie Houghton
Dwelling: Detached Home
Location: North York, Toronto
Scope: Bathroom Renovation
For the past 10+ years, homeowners Wendy and Gerry had been living with not one but two ensuite bathrooms just off their principal bedroom. Each of them had their own space but they were dated and dysfunctional. Turning two bathrooms into one meant that we had a large footprint to work with - perfect for fitting in all their bathroom needs and still create an open, airy atmosphere. They wanted an oasis with a spa-like feel so we brought in a quiet palette of natural materials including a patterned marble tile throughout, a pebble stone shower floor, and a floating white oak vanity. The large space meant we could fit in a private water closet, a shower with a teak bench, and a freestanding soaker tub to get the full spa experience. The double vanity provides plenty of storage with space for towels, cleaning supplies, and his and hers tall cabinets. To top it all off we styled the space just like we would any other room in the house - with a vintage runner, antique stool, and a pop of pattern on the roman blind. Now it’s time to relax.
