When homeowners Lisa and Andrew wanted to update their kitchen after lots of good wear and tear from their three kids and their dog named Bryce - we jumped at the opportunity! The’ve always been terrific clients of ours, and the footprint of their kitchen was almost perfect. With a few suggested tweaks to the layout and some upgraded windows, we had a beautiful canvas to plan from. With growing kids, we revisited what their family really needed and made changes to suit their lifestyle now. They really wanted a white oak kitchen, so we designed something that felt current but still classically-inspired with transitional details that are in keeping with their historical home. It’s always a balance with a wood kitchen as the material has inherent visual strength, so we softened the look with architectural details like an arched opening, curvy pulls and knobs that age and gain beautiful patina, and with lots of pretty styling.
