Sometimes A little Goes A Long Way
Looking to freshen up your home a bit? Sometimes it doesn’t take much to transform a space. Just by replacing pillows, window treatments, bedding or even your bath towels; you can make a space feel really different and fresh again.
Throw Pillows
Throw pillows are an easy way to add a splash of colour that can really bring a room alive. It’s a small change that doesn’t cost a lot, but can have big impact. Here are some examples of our projects where we’ve added pillows, and the injection of colour and texture has really lifted the feeling of the rooms.
Window Treatments
We’re not fans of undressed windows, unless of course the views are spectacular. Window treatments finish a room, making it feel more welcoming and layered. Sometimes they are the ‘heros’ in the room and sometimes they can play a supporting role - but in each of these two examples, the rooms wouldn’t have felt nearly as “finished” without them.
Bedding & Bath
Bedding and bath accessories are a fun and easy way to freshen up these private rooms in your home. In this bathroom, we’ve added a colourful robe, understated towels, a modern piece of art, and a hand made wood stool to perfectly complete the room. The next two images show how changing your bedding and accent pillows can make the same room feel different in look and mood. In both examples we’ve used Imli bedding (Bloom and Wave Prints) and sourced pillows from our favourite stores.
Art
Another tried and true way to up the ante in a room is by hanging some great art or moving art from one room to the other to change things up a bit (sometimes seeing it in a new location can make you appreciate the piece differently). Not only can art add personality to a space, it can change the mood of the room dramatically. In this first example, we hung a very modern photograph above an ornate mantel in a traditionally decorated piano room to create that juxaposition between new and old. In the second image, a peaceful landscape with bright blue skies softens the masculinity of the walnut built in and adds that perfect pop of colour in an otherwise neutral palette.
