Introducing Evergreen Gardens Townhomes
After years of anticipation, one of our largest and most exciting projects is finally nearing the finish line. Located in Bennington Heights, Evergreen Gardens Townhomes are about to hit the real estate market and we're thrilled.
Griffin Houghton was brought in by developer David Buckland (of Merit Homes Inc.) along with RAW Architects to design the five townhomes.
We had the opportunity to influence not only the floor plans, but the exterior finishes as well. The architects created a modern design we loved, but we wanted to inject some contrast to the modernity with timeless finishes and classic design choices.
One of the biggest moves out-of-the-gate was to change the exterior to red brick from grey. We thought that this material would marry well with the neighborhood and not date itself.
We also pitched creating two design packages for the interiors – a transitional style for two of the townhomes, and then a more modern style for the other three. Both styles integrate custom millwork with curves, warm materials and natural textures to contrast nicely with the linear, modern lines of the architecture.
Often, the telltale sign of a home’s style is the kitchen. You can see how we approached the two different styles in the renderings - above is the Transitional Kitchen and below, the Modern Kitchen.
Even the laundry and powder rooms have their own look, depending on what townhome you’re in – same, same but different.
For the flooring, we chose a timeless white oak in a mid-tone stain, and laid it in a herringbone pattern on the main living floor. For the other levels, we laid the same flooring in a straight run pattern. You can absolutely mix different layouts in a home - a question we are often asked by our clients.
On the second floor, the principal ensuite designs have different vanity styles, but both share the same Zen-like envelope that’s created by the finishes we chose – warm wood vanities, natural marble and brass plumbing fixtures. And yes, brass continues to be a fan favourite!
We had some fun in the second floor guest bathroom, choosing graphic and colourful tiles for the main wall. Everyone who has been to the site has commented on the design. It was a small gamble that paid off well with both men and women alike saying how much they love it.
These homes have four levels (five including the basement) with private elevators to boot, and with the most gorgeous rooftop terraces. This development is designed for easy, high-quality living at every stage of life with quick access to downtown.
The ground floors of the homes showcase generous foyers, recreational rooms, a small kitchenette and a large bathroom.
If you’re looking to shake it up and make a move, or if you just want to come and see this beautiful development in person, keep your eyes peeled for the real estate listing. And, as always, give us a ring (or an email) if you have a renovation or decorating project. We’d love to help!
