We love our new home!
Stephanie Houghton, who is with Emily Griffin Design, is a gifted interior designer who is passionately committed to her work and really showed up for us.
Stephanie listened to us very carefully and was able to help us develop a vision for our home and ensure it was realized. She came up with an amazing, well thought out, integrated look for our condo, that really reflects who we are and which has a lovely balance, freshness and flow to it throughout. We love our new home! We are a new couple who were just moving into together and Stephanie was very thoughtful in integrating and making use of our varied pieces, including an antique Brazilian rancher’s dining room suite, Chinese antique furniture, art and rugs.
There is no way we could have pulled together all the elements involved in this design on our own, which included: built in closets and book cases in the bedroom; taking down the wall between the kitchen and the den; building in a workspace in the den that included a custom, wall-mounted, American walnut book case and built-in desk; new kitchen which integrated Ikea with custom millwork; a transformed washroom; and hardwood floors throughout. In the washroom, she created new storage space by borrowing part of the front hall closet and knocking down a wall.
We also hired her to find the contractors who worked on the unit and to oversee the whole project, which was a godsend for us when the general contractor did not complete the reno to our expectations and Stephanie took care of it, bringing in specialist contractors who brought it up to our standards within the initial estimated cost, aside from additions we agreed to during the process that went beyond the original vision, but were well worth the investment. It is amazing having a dedicated designer and tough negotiator looking after your interests and protecting you.
It was great having Emily Griffin as added back up during this whole process not to mention her gifted eye for hanging our many, quite varied art pieces.
